Although I usually cringe at the sight of big box stores, my heart soared when I saw the huge blue building with the yellow letters spelling a wonderful four-letter word - IKEA. Opens next month. Must save money for new furniture. Senator John McCain will be speaking at my community college this week. I mention this for two reasons: he'll be conducting it as an open forum - students, faculty and staff can ask him questions and he'll answer (unlike the current president) and the event is co-sponsored by the College Republicans AND College Democrats. I think that's kinda cool.
My favorite t-shirt worn by a student so far this semester: Homeland Security - fighting terrorism since 1492 on one of my Native American students. Runner-up: I am not a terrorist., worn by a young man of Arabic descent. I have three sets of twins as students this semester. I have another set of siblings who so closely resemble each other that I thought they might be twins. I also have a student who is one of a set of triplets. While substituting in a physics class, I was lecturing when the students in one part of the room jumped up and scattered. Not usually the reaction I get when I teach. Turns out a young man found a scorpion crawling up his leg, but managed to flick it off and kill it. I had the rest of the class give him a round of applause. Fellow ASU grad and friend Ravi had a HST press release this week. Good job, Ravi! Here's the image: Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
