2007-12-03 10:39 PM i have done the once unimaginable I wrote a letter to the appropriate person affiliated with Avi's truly fine school to say that they should find someone else to do the job they want us (me) to do and let us do the job we signed up for and were asked to do. I was much nicer about it and included more details.
This is a kind of big deal for me. Usually I try to avoid confrontation, at all costs. Kenny compared the situation to a co-dependent significant other -- very, very, very needy. But, though this is a private school, it is also a non-profit, and non-profits have been known to suck the soul from any available free labor. I can often write 1,500 words an hour. It may not be great, but I can get the words out there. It took me about three hours to develop and write a 400 some word letter. No wonder I write fiction nowadays. Writing really important interpersonal communication and non-fiction takes a lot longer at the get-go. Hope the letter goes well. But what's the worse that can happen? They fire me? I already put in all the hours I signed up for, plus some (mandatory service hours that are a part of tuition), and it's a volunteer gig.
