2008-05-17 12:07 PM Our country is being run by a moron I don't like to comment too much about politics, because for the most part there's a lot I don't understand. However I found the following quote made by the inept being who runs this country in response to Saudi Arabia's increase in oil production to be rather interesting.
"It's not enough. It's something but it doesn't solve our problem," Bush said. "Our problem in America gets solved when we aggressively go for domestic exploration. Our problem in America gets solved if we expand our refining capacity, promote nuclear energy and continue our strategy for the advancement of alternative energies as well as conservation." Yes, of course. Plowing over Alaska and sticking oil refineries there will solve everything, just like giving a junkie a needle full of heroin is standard protocol for fighting addiction. The American philosophy is so neatly packaged in that quote: let's not take responsibility for our problems; instead let's demand that the entire world cater to our every whim and gladly choke down our prizewinning formula of capitalism, McDonald's and Microsoft, because everyone else is wallowing in their own stupidity. I'm still looking at this entire situation as a blessing in disguise. Rising gas prices hurt everyone, but it will cause people to re-evaluate their lives and shave off the unnecessary. Then perhaps we'll quit filling our lives with material goods, lay off the antidepressants and ADHD medications and the world will keep on turning.
