Well, it's 37 degrees here, but with the Sun Index, it's actually about 50. (Some people would dispute this, because the wind is blowing. My husband and I had an extensive conversation about whether the wind chill negates the Sun Index the other day while we were walking the dog on a sunny, windy day . . . Certainly one moderates the other.)

At any rate, it does feel quite a bit like spring out there.

I'm trying not to be bitter: Ann Arbor got six inches of snow yesterday, and they are bracing for another storm that could leave them an additional nine inches. We, on the other hand, are expecting trace amounts. This is So. Not. Fair. (And I think all my friends in The Deuce would agree with me on that.) I'm hoping against hope that maybe the storm will turn northward a bit.

*sigh*

So, failing the prospect of a lovely dump of snow at my favorite time of year for snow, I have done the next best thing: I've ordered seeds for the garden. (Gotta love the internet, eh?) Very soon, many wonderful varieties of space-saving veggies will be winging their way to us from Pine Tree Garden Seeds in Maine. I am once again fantasizing about replacing the dining room window with a greenhouse window so I can start seeds there.

And I've also made a completely stupendous discovery: After a year and a half of driving past Fitness USA and muttering under my breath, I finally stopped in and spoke to a knowledgeable person, who gave me the number for the Home Office. I called them today and guess what?? My lifetime membership (which I got in 1989, by convincing two friends to sign up for a year with me) is still on record!! The rep gave me my membership number, and they're sending me my new membership card, which will arrive in about a week. Woot, woot! Weight machines and - this is the BIGGIE - a whirlpool, all free! I may just truck down there this afternoon and soak myself for a while. (Thank you SO MUCH, Louise and Kathy H.! :)

I've been cranking right along on my major Spring Break Knitting Goal, too: Getting Emil's aran crewneck Off the Needles. As you can see, I now have both the front and the back done:

. . . and I've made a good start on the sleeves.

I think I'll have plenty of time to finish before classes resume on Monday.

Of course, if I finish the sweater, I'll probably have to spend Sunday night frantically getting ready for Monday's class . . . So what's new? What's break for, if not leisurely procrastination? :)
