2002-11-20 8:00 PM All hopped up on TheraFlu and Tylenol PM and noplace to go... Nothing like the buzz one gets from a combination of sore-throat-fighting drugs. Yeah, mama! Bring on the zzzs!
Okay, sorry. I'm under the influence of some cold medicine, trying to get rid of this crappy sore throat that I picked up yesterday. I ended up sleeping more today than I'd planned, and was afraid I wouldn't get jack written, then I finally got a second wind and jammed out the scary scene in chapter five. Ya gotta love underwater ghosts! And that's all I gotta say 'bout that! Tonight was showdown night for Pumpkin (the King) and Boss (the Upstart). Pumpking has been hiding out in the bedroom for the past day and a half, ever since we brought home Boss, but today he started poking his furry orange head out more and more. Of course, the instant Boss saw him, Boss was after him like a shot. So when I saw Pumpking in the bathroom tonight, I pulled Boss in there and shut the door. I went in too, risking life and limb. Pumpking put the smack down a couple times, and Boss quickly learned who the real boss was. Lizzie was like "What's going on in there?" when I let 'em out. And think that's all I need to do. Boss is officially welcomed into the Jasper household! And now I'm gonna go read for about 5 minutes, savoring my hard-fought wordage for the day, and read some stories. Later! Her light, however, cut right through the shadow. Mitch stopped in mid-kick, wondering for a painfully selfish moment if he had his own black shadow on his back. Then he the shadow on Ella’s back came into focus for a split-second, and Mitch saw a man in a long, torn jacket under the water, his wild black hair fanned out around his head. The man made a sudden pulling movement with a gloved right hand, and then disappeared in a flurry of bubbles. Mitch was at Ella’s side before even realizing he had kicked and swam his way there. He reached for her through the swirl of bubbles, but she was already moving up toward the surface. She had spit out her mouthpiece, and as she rose her mouth was a tight little line as she reached for the tank behind her. The hose had come unattached.
