Breaking the rules, breaking the rules

Well, I'm just not doing well with my self-imposed Dare at all, now, am I? While I did get up and take the dog for a lovely jog this morning (after tossing and turning for a good hour, trying to get out of bed), I've not been practicing the guitar or reading as much as I'd like to.

At least I try to get through a couple pages of a book with Drew, but he's had a crappy cold the past week or so, and he gets too antsy to sit still (because he can't breathe). Which also means, due to the cold, he doesn't sleep all night. Last night he got us up three or four times (we're not sure how many it was, as we alternate who gets to go pick him up and bring him into our room for a snack). So yeah, I'm tired, too!

But as it usually is with me, I ended up getting fired up about what I was supposed to be avoiding. I'm now itching to get back to writing, to finish not just the baseball novel, which I've had some fine insight into in the past few days, thanks to a fellow writer (thanks, Kathy!)

I also want to start work on the new novel idea. I got a new notebook and everything so I can start writing in it longhand, and pasted the map and my notes and rewrote the opening scene last night.

And now I also want to finish up the ol' novel blog of Dead Man's Rope, mostly because I literally left both of my characters hanging there in space, and I've got to figure out what happens next. I'm dying to know.

The lesson here? Just write what you want to write, and make it the best you can. Do it for yourself first, then share it with the world. Odds are everyone else will like it as much as you.

Just make sure you LOVE it before you send it off, and you can't do a thing to make it better... Later!
