Last night I purchased two new copies of books that I already have access to in other formats. I purchased the Norton Critical Editions of both of them. The titles are "Jane Eyre" and "Wuthering Heights," each written by one of the Bronte sisters. It's entirely possible that I may choose to do my graduate research on the Bronte sisters because the amount of excitement that I have within me about owning Norton Editions of anything is definitely enough to sustain me through a thesis.

I'm fairly certain that I have a Norton Anthology of Science Fiction that Steven gave me when he came to visit me this summer, and it was by and far one of the best gifts I've ever been given (even though I haven't read it yet because it's hiding in a box somewhere in my car).

The coolest discovery of the whole evening: the Norton "Wuthering Heights" was edited by a professor at University of Washington who teaches several of the online courses that I was considering. It's a good chance that the actual grading and interacting is done by a teacher's assistant, but I'm still excited about it. In the world of English literature, editors of Norton Anthologies and Critical editions are superstars. And a superstar's assistant is generally a good person to know.
