  • I got a cat named Isobel who is the cutest most lovable cat in the world
  • I broke a $3800 laptop with World of Warcraft
  • I still didn't make it to level 60 with any of my characters
  • I perfected my macaroni and cheese recipe
  • I learned how to make gumbo
  • I quit grad school
  • I quit my first full-time grown-up job
  • I took a month and a half off to stew and recouperate and do "nothing" (which didn't involve any World of Warcraft, due to the broken laptop--it did involve lots of Buffy though)
  • I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, but it was an excellent summer vacation
  • I met a boy
  • I moved to Los Angeles in my car
  • I got another grown-up full-time job that has nice coworkers and benefits
  • I tried acupuncture for the first time (and liked the results enough to excuse the fact that they use those pesky needles)
  • I flew on an airplane 6 times (three locations in all)
  • I tried NaNoWriMo and failed to complete even 10% of the requisite 50,000 words
  • I dabbled in vegetarianism for about a month (after a 5 year stint as a teenager)--until I learned how to make gumbo
  • I attended my first candlelight service
  • I discovered that the existence of comfortable flip-flops isn't a myth
  • I tried sushi for the first time. (The cooked eel one is excellent.)
  • I went to Disneyland for the first time, but didn't get to meet any princesses (I will though, it's just a matter of time).

I apparently was much busier than I remember being. I tried to write down what I did month-to-month and couldn't come up with anything for May, and March was fairly sparse as well. Hmph.

Added 9-8-2007:

I apparently forgot quite a few things in this, many of which are very important. (I claim scatterbrained-ness and lost notes.)

  • I visited a part of the world I haven't been before over Thanksgiving in a trip to Nag's Head which is in either Virginia or North Carolina (I can't be sure anymore), and met many interesting and nice people (all related to the boy I mentioned earlier in this entry).
  • One of those people likes to fish. I've told Steven I have every intention of going fishing with him and his grandfather at some point in the not-so-distant future.
  • I joined my first writing group. We meet on a somewhat weekly basis at a coffee shop that's in a place I can't navigate in LA (are there any other types of places in LA?). The people in this writing group are also WoW-players.
  • I got in touch with some of my old online friends, and some of my old real-life friends, to mixed responses. (Including two very receptive responses from my Canadian friends, one of whom is on his way to Australia in February and will have a layover in LA.)
  • I attended a very wild and fun wedding on Halloween and got to dress up as a pirate, which is the coolest thing ever!! Of course, I'm partial to pirates because my favorite waitress at Plenty's in Olympia dressed up as one on her last day of work as a waitress (it was during a city-wide celebration of something--graduation I think).
  • I watched almost the entire series of Buffy. I missed the last bit of season 7, though because I moved to Los Angeles instead.
  • I celebrated my brother's 18th birthday.
  • I started running in May (see, there's something I forgot about--I knew May had stuff in it), but stopped when I moved away from my favorite running track (I'm looking for a new one, no worries--I miss running).
  • I had an excellent Christmas, both people-wise, and loot-wise. I got a ton of excellent books from a ton of excellent people, and a very cute froggy key-chain from my mother, to replace the other froggy key-chain she gave me when I learned to drive (it's fallen apart a bit).
  • I had fun hanging out with my brother. This may not seem monumental, but for us it is. If anyone has any arguments against WoW, my only argument for it is the miracle that has come to life in the form of my brother and I laughing together.
  • That's all I can remember now, and I'm sure I left other things out too, inadvertently. Just let me know, and I'll add them to the list.
