I was in high school when Columbine happened. I was a sophomore. That year is what I will remember as the year of the bomb threats. As the school that was in the center of town, we had a variety of students from a variety of areas. Sometimes this was beneficial. Those of us insulated in the IB program and too busy with homework to get into much trouble found it a benefit to be around so many different types of people. But it wasn't uncommon for us to hear about fights between the various groups on campus. I'm reluctant to call them gangs, but perhaps they were. Sophomore year was the first time I heard about these kinds of things. There was a knife fight outside the language portables between a few kids from two of the groups.

This new group of kids attending school there has apparently gone further and actually brought guns into the mix. I'm disappointed, frustrated, angry, and sad.
