As it happens, I get three daily newspapers delivered to my home everyday. Today, it seemed all of their editors must have struggled over what to put on the front page. The interception of the US spy plane near North Korea? The bomb blast in the Philippines? The White House' unhappiness with Turkey (among the other countries who won't support its agenda)? The fact that war in Iraq has already stealthily begun?

After hours of surfing today and yesterday, a couple of pieces among others caught my eye:
The War-on-Iraq IQ Test, A U.S. Diplomat's Letter of Resignation and Obstacles to War, today's editorial in Singapore's most-read English paper. Though I don't agree with the paper all the time, I had to appreciate what they said today: "The fact that Turkey, the only democracy in the Middle East, has not found Mr Bush's vision of a transformed Middle East enticing enough to back US war plans shows how low America's credibility has sunk in the world. Unless global sentiment changes suddenly within the next few weeks, Washington will be launching its invasion of Iraq with less support than it has ever had in its entire history."

To cheer myself up, I've been lurking in my favorite newsgroup for education and entertainment, talk.origins. Reading The Science of Discworld encouraged me to visit the group again, if only to see how the perpetual war between creationists and scientists is going. Well, it is still fun to watch as it ever was. I don't know what it is, but even when I don't understand half of what's going on, I love reading science theory articles and books. The Science of Discworld turned out to be a book on the history of Roundworld (ie. Earth) and what humans have discovered about their origins and that of the universe so far. I'm a sucker for this stuff.

Well, the Strange Horizons gallery is a sure thing now, since I just sent in the needed text and images to Mary Anne Mohanraj, Editor-in-Chief for Strange Horizons. I found out less than a week ago that we were just 3 Journal Degrees of Separation away (Go to Jason's Journal, go to J-Walker, and from there reach Mary Anne's journal). It felt a bit weird when I first found the route, but now I just have a fuzzy warm feeling of unexpected and cool connectivity.

I chose ten images, all color, and the latest, the picture painted for Mike Jasper's The Last of the Hand, is among the lot. My web site's getting an update later today, so I'll post a link to it then!
