Wet Mobile (Cell) Phone

I did something incredily stupid today, and that was to try and wash a stain near the pocket of my shorts—when my little cellphone/handphone (call it what you will depending on where you live in the world) was still in it. So, the phone got wet. I shook the water out of it and its component pieces (it's one of those Nokias with the removable shell) are drying in front of the window. The upside is—the phone was out of battery and off when it got wet. Its model is also incredibly old now and given free with phone service subscriptions, to show you its worth. The downside is—the phone somehow turned itself on when it got wet, and two, I'm actually addicted to this big, bulky, not-so-small design where I can read and hit the buttons individually. (If you come and see the trends in mobile phones here, you're probably going to have one of two reactions: "Kawaii!!!" or "Great scott! How can anybody use that thing?")

I don't need a mobile phone per se, it started here as a status symbol, which in Asia, means it's going to do very successfully, and you'll probably get 99% of the population to want at least one. I wasn't that 99%. The desk job I had at the time demanded that I get one, and I got the cheapest. Until now I still get annoyed at the frivolous way this thing is used for braindead small-but-long-and-loud conversations in public places. Suddenly more strangers appear louder, dumber (see Oscar Wilde's quote on opening your mouth) and ruder than they did before mobile phones. Hrmm. (And of course I'm doing the online version of opening my big fat mouth now.)

The painting of "Cupid R3load3d" was completed, submitted to epilogue.net, and part of the "Visions of Cupid" contest which closes end of March. The entries are finally starting to look interesting. I don't expect to win, but I'm glad I got the painting done, since it was a hoot to do, and actually took little time, for some very cool spontaneous results. It also prints well on paper.

About prints, the past few days have been me printing, and restructuring my website so that offering new print items will be easier and less work. One big thing about the old system on my site, was that adding a new print item meant re-entering a bunch of data that was already somewhere else. I'm definitely not the world's best database-driven web-programmer, so this took me a bit of figuring, not to mention my original site design had nothing about offering prints when it started. So the design needed a bit of an overhaul and rethink to become more efficient in handling sales. I've finally got it licked, however.
