So I had my surgery today--yes, today. And am already back home, in my slippers and sweats, and typing.

Life is good.

Also, the hospitals are all over the idea of kicking you out early if you can keep your food down. As to that, I had lots of jello, a wonderful combination of drugs we'll call "morphine" and "percocet", and even some soup. It was tasty. I hardly minded the peas.

So now I get to wear this spiffy collar for a month or so, whenever I get in a car, and at certain other times, too, can't pick up anything heavy for a while, and can only use my neck about 70% of the way Ghu intended it, 'cause of the cute little incision on my neck that I have to keep dry and stuff until Monday. Spongebaths, baby!

And thus commences the recouperation, where I shall read and write and nap and maybe watch some tv as my spine fuses to the nice shim and gets used to the titatium pins.

Could be worse. Could have to go back to work tomorrow.
