sucks and rocks

Rocks: I finally have a dental PPO, which means I can afford to get some dental work done.
Sucks: That dental work includes getting two old fillings redone this week, and possibly getting gum grafts on a few teeth! Yuck!

I have three more weeks of maternity leave before the writing workshop, and I go back to work the week after that.
(Rocks: When I was at church last weekend, and in the times that I’ve run into Senior Pastor while dropping C off at preschool, I realized how much I love my job and am excited to go back.
Sucks: Life is going to get exponentially more complicated and busy when that happens.)

Rocks: When C was trying to be helpful, and slammed the door to the dishwasher and the door hit the upper rack, hard, nothing got broken.
Sucks: I said, “No! Stop!” a little louder than I should have.

Rocks: I can look at dishes piled up on the counter and not feel compelled to clean them up right then and there. Who knows, maybe I will shed my obsessive clean-as-you-go impulse too.

Sucks: I hadn’t seen any of the movies that won Oscars—or that were even nominated, except Wallace and Gromit and March of the Penguins.
Rocks: The 40-Year Old Virgin. Hilarious movie. Raunchy, but with a sweet core that really surprised me.

Sucks: R is very, very stressed about his job.
Rocks: Mamala is back in town so we can get some date nights on the calendar!

Rocks: My CGs are coming next week! ChaplainMom is bringing Big A, and CG Auntie and California CG are coming too. Can’t wait.

Rocks: Little she-who-is. She has started pointing out letters on signs, she can recognize a few words (her name, Mommy, Daddy), and she can put on all her clothes unassisted (usually).

Rocks: The Divine Miss M had her second ultrasound last week, and her hips have “gotten better.” So once the orthopedist signs off next week, we’ll have that whole business behind us for good.
Rocks: She is still sleeping 9 hours a night, she smiles, guffaws, coos, likes standing up with assistance, and has started getting used to the daily bottle.
Sucks: She has a sniffle.
Rocks: She puts up with the Snorfeling of the Nose.
