lightning-fast brainstorm

Things I might like to do
if/when I have the time
and/or money
and/or kids that are older and less dependent on me:

--go on pilgrimage to Iona next summer with members of the church, rather than just being the staff person doing the legwork at this point
--Spanish-language immersion in Guatemala for 2-3 weeks
--MFA in writing at Seattle Pacific University (with residencies in Santa Fe) or Warren Wilson College (Asheville)
--spend a week at the John Campbell Folk School in North Carolina, learning dance, stained glass, or blacksmithing
--go to New York and view a taping of the Daily Show or the Reporrr
--find a DMin program in which I can focus on something totally cool and fun and that involves no annoying "hoops" whatsoever
--get really good season tickets to some community theater
--retrace dad's perimeter ride around Texas and write a memoir piece about the experience and reflections on our rather complex relationship
--get this piece on motherhood/ministry "done"
--finally "get" the gardening thing
--finally get a handle on barre chords on the guitar
--do that raft trip down the Colorado River that jo(e) did last summer
--run a marathon, climb Long's Peak in Colorado, or at least get buff enough to be able to do either
--go back to Hawaii
--go off the grid/build a straw bale house and be hippy pastor out in the boonies somewhere

Things I am planning to do, in no particular order:
--see Spamalot with R on Sunday, thanks to MaDear's generosity and kid-sitting prowess
--go on vacation with the family in Maine in two weeks
--book time (an hour or two a day) during that trip in which to write and/or read, completely undisturbed by suckling baby and chatty child
--go somewhere relaxing in 2007 with my clergy group and our spouses
--join a brand-new writer's group that's forming with some clergywomen in the area; we've been e-mailing over the last day or so and the energy is crackling!
--write a few articles for a new 12-volume lectionary commentary that's in progress
--continue to green-up our lives in small ways
--write a sermon for Sunday
--help R finish the deck
--go to bed in about 10 minutes.
