little she-who-is
On the way to swimming lessons this evening:
RM: [eating a bagel energy bar]
[to C] Wanna bite?
[C takes a bite, passes it back]
RM: Do you want another bite?
C: No.

[a little later]
RM: Wanna bite?
C: No.

[a little later]
RM: Wanna bite?
C: No! Mommy stop asking me!
RM: OK.
…Hey guess what?
C: What?
RM: You wanna bite?
C: No! [smiling]

[a little later]
RM: Hey C. I just remembered something.
…You wanna bite?
C: Mommy, stop killing me!
RM: You mean kidding you?
C: Yes, stop kidding me!

the divine miss m
She is a new baby. I think the sleepiness from her four immunizations served as a reset. She sleeps at night now, takes three naps a day, consents to be put into her crib awake without too much fussing...

We are enjoying this new development for as long as it lasts.

She also laughs uproariously at all manner of things. Peekaboo, playing with Free to Be, the mere sight of her sister, my pulling her out of her crib in the morning. It is all a laff riot.

The latest menu items: barley cereal in addition to oatmeal, applesauce, bananas, peaches. Cheerios that she manages to rake into her mouth with her little paw. They cling to her tongue and lower lip. General Mills, we await your call regarding a commercial deal.

and me.
For the first time since starting this blog, I am working on a significant writing project that I'm not planning to post here. Still too personal, and too rough even for these pages. But lots of fun.

I'm also working on a few articles for a new lectionary commentary series that's coming out, getting paid the bargain-basement price of 8 cents a word.

But it's totally time for bed now.
