saturday night dots
- Little she-who-is turns 3 1/2 today. She wanted cake.
- Last night I surprised R by planning our first overnight trip away from the kids since M was born. MaDear and G-mommy tag-teamed the girls while he and I went to Swanky Downtown Hotel courtesy of an excellent Hotwire deal. We ate sushi last night and walked and enjoyed the cool of the evening (yes you read that right--temps were in the 70s). Then today we went to a fun brunch place, then went canoeing on Swampy River, had lunch on the waterfront, and walked all over the place. Beautiful day, minimal sunburn. We just went where our legs, our canoe, and the Metro took us--no Zagat ratings, no Mapquest. Must do this more often.
We came home to find MaDear, C, and M in the front yard playing in the kiddie pool.
- At the hotel, during check-in:
RM: Could we have a refrigerator brought up to our room?
Clerk: Sure, but there will be a surcharge.
RM: Umm, OK.
Clerk: What is it for?
RM: Pumped breastmilk.
Clerk: Hmm, well, we don't charge when it's for medication... so, we'll give it to you for free.
Breastmilk is good medicine!
- M is now taking the bottle very reliably. The trick--get the milk nice and warm--much warmer than you think she'd want. She's also napping two hours at a stretch. Can you say lull in the teething??
