2006-11-10 9:22 AM friday five: what's red and blue and purple all over? Those of us who are in the United States have just been through quite a topsy-turvy election. During the campaign we heard a fair amount about red states and blue states, when in fact most of us live in some shade of purple. And so... a lighter look at those confounding colors:
1. Favorite red food I don't know if this is my absolute favorite, but I do love beets. 2. Tell us about the bluest body of water you've ever seen in person. Hard to choose between the Mediterranean Sea, viewed from a hill outside Barcelona, and the Pacific Ocean from the north beaches of Kauai. 3. It's movie rental time: Blue Planet, The Color Purple, or Crimson Tide? First of all, when I wrote this F5 I blew it by not using Hunt for Red October instead of Crimson Tide. However, I would probably go with one of those two. I've seen and love Blue Planet but I wouldn't gravitate to it. As for the Color Purple, I'm sad to say that I even got this on Netflix some time back and it sat unwatched for several weeks. I guess I'm never in the mood for it! 4. What has you seeing red these days? I'm not seeing red too much these days, although I am sorry that the "marriage amendment" passed in this here commonwealth. I disagree with the intent of it of course, but I also think it goes much further and impacts way more people than folks realize. 5. What or who picks you up when you're feeling blue?
