I like them both (just recently started a subscription to Asimov's), and over severall months the difference in the kind of stories they publish has become clear but difficult to describe.
Asimov's stories are darker is the way I would put it. Maybe "denser" would be a better word. Certainly they are stories that stay in my mind and give me ideas to think about or images to recall. Analog stories are more lightweight, I think, easier reading. Also, the magazine has excellent editorials by Stanley Schmidt. I'd like to get a collection of his editorials published in one volume. If I could subscribe to only one, it would be Asimov's--what do you think? Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
