Organizationally Challenged

I am an Organizationally Challenged person. Anyone who has known me for more than a minute knows that I struggle every day to keep chaos to a minimum.

From my closet to my dresser drawers, from my desk top to my desktop, I wield the sword of priority, though I grunt and groan under its weight. "Should I keep this or toss it? Should I file this under Start Up or under Policy? Is this a current bulletin or obsolete?"

I know a few people who are naturally organized and I am constantly in awe of their abilities. One walked into my office and within minutes was reorganizing my files. Two hours later, I had folders with labels and contents that matched. I could actually find things instead of looking at piled high papers and doing geological search (excavation by date) every time I needed a memo or report. Not only did she organize the files, she wanted to do it and had fun the whole time, chattering away. I'm still stunned.

"So," I thought in my innocence, "I can do the same thing in miniature in my journal. I'll just rearrance the blog links alphabetically and... and..." As you can no doubt tell by looking to the left, I managed to delete most of them, not alphabetize them. It can't be that difficult to do what I was trying to do, but I can make any organizational task monumentally complex and unrecognizable.

I will fix the list to the left as soon as I finish with the self-flagellation. Problem is, only 15 links are allowed and I regularly visit about 20 journals. What to do? What to do?

Later. A cup of coffee has my name on it. I can at least *look* organized while drinking coffee and twirling my pen.
