Regarding lawns and the definition thereof: If it's green and shorter than shoulder-high to the smallest cat, it's a lawn. When the cats disappear in the greenery, it's a jungle. When it turns desiccated and brown, it's desert and should be deserted. The latter two states make great hunting for my two feline huntresses, though. Large bugs, lizards, mice, rats, birds--all have fallen to the Claws And Teeth (hence, C.A.T.)
Cats, are, by definition, perfect and self contained. When Callie can't find anything animal to hunt and retrieve, she brings in leaves and leaves them all over the place. Quite a thrill to step on a wet leaf that sticks to the bottom of your foot when you're not quite awake yet. Eyelids at half-mast, you hop around, turning on a light, to see what evil thing is stuck to the sole of your foot. Thank heaven, it's only a leaf and not the guts of some small disembowelled creature (the rest of which is probably at the foot of the bed). Might as well get up and start the day.
