It's chilly and damp right now, threatening to rain, but in such a lackadaisical manner, probably the only result will be a damp sidewalk.

The little old ladies of my church gave me a birthday party this morning. None of them has two pennies to rub together, but they got together and baked an apple crisp. One woman gave me some fresh lemons from her tree. Another (91) dug up a plant from her yard and put it in a plastic pot for me. A third little old lady gave me a candle that is obviously a re-gift. The last one gave me a tin of those really strong mints, missing only a few. Each gift very precious to me, more than diamonds and gold. We had a delightful time drinking lemonade and munching on apple crisp.

Life is good....friends like these are special.
