Our Southern California rainstorms usually bring temperatures in the 60's.

But after the rain, cold (and then wind) can be expected.

Today dawned clear and cold. There was a thick layer of ice on my windshield when I went out to the car.

And by 7 a.m. it had warmed up to a toasty 38 degrees.

I can see snow on the mountains, white and beautiful.

Note: it's 9 a.m. and the mercury has zoomed up to 40 degrees (39.9, actually, but who's going to quibble?)
