We opened a new bottle of wine last night for evening sipping (we have a glass of red wine occasionally with dinner). SO takes some meds that don't mix with alcohol, but we cheat every once in a while.

Last night's new bottle of wine can best be described as execrable. Really terrible. Bad enough that I poured the rest of the bottle out and tossed the body into the recycle bin. I'm not particular about wine; vin ordinaire is good enough for me, but this was undrinkable. I didn't want to use it even for marinades.

I do like a nice Merlot, though, and I can see that a trip to Trader Joe's is in my near future plans.
