2011-04-28 8:09 AM Power and Choices Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (4) If you have power, you usually have control over a situation. You have either the money or the political/social clout or the personal charisma to make things happen the way you want them to.
Without power, there is usually very little control over events and life's exigencies. Which doesn't feel good, at all, leading to depression and hopelessness. The counter balalance is having choice. Even when you have no power over the course of events or the actions of other people, if you have choices in your own responses or choices of personal actions, you feel a certain satisfaction (so long as they are genuine choices and not pseudo alternatives). There is also much to be said for choosing a path to follow when it's the only one. The act of choice, of acceptance, gives you a certain internal power--a seemingly powerless person, you have a way to get a fundamental balance.
