Probably happened when the stove was moved back into place yesterday. (Kitchen re-flooring is done; on to the finish work of baseboards, etc.) Called the gas company. They advised staying away from the stove and leaving the windows open. They said they'd send a service tech right out. Yes, boys and girls, the valve was cracked and gas was leaking out. The tech's "sniffer" probe went crazy. All fixed and gas-free 20 minutes later. Tech was efficient and pleasant. That was the remarkable part of the day.
