Journalscape seems like more of a journaling than a blogging platform, so I don't know how this is going to go, but here's some linkage.

Should you go to graduate school? First I saw "short answer: no" and then today I saw "Go!" and links therein. (Read the comments, too -- the Crooked Timber article makes some claims about placement of graduates, but seriously neglects to think about those who enter a program but never graduate. I read recently** that attrition in PhD programs consistently hovers near 50%, so this is something to worry about.)

Lots of good points all around. If you or someone you love is thinking of grad school, learn all you can about it first.
