- go walk in the park. Good smells, and you get a little exercise. Just walk though! No need to go crazy. - drink a lot of water. You never feel as thirsty as your body's need. - upload a bunch of homemade CDs to iTunes, the ones you need to enter all the info for because the cd database doesn't recognize them - pay bills and balance your checkbook. You're roasting in hell already, right? - work on easy tasks. I created forms for my teachers' association. - take a cold shower. Take several! Cold water isn't that expensive! - go to the movies. They always have AC; you might even need a sweater. - stand in front of the fan and spray water either directly onto yourself or into the fan for more of a surprise relationship with the water. Cool! - call people you haven't been in touch with and make dinner dates. - do all of your errands when it's hottest, especially if the stores you go to have air conditioning. Bonus points if your car has AC (which many don't in the Pacific Northwest). - watch bad TV and suffer in silence with a beer or lemonade. "Bad" doesn't necessarily only mean "low quality"; I include anything that is fun to watch but not particularly edifying. I include "What Not To Wear". - do a little ab workout - just a few crunches - and any stretches your aging body requires to remain at all functional. - bet against yourself. The wager? The exact minute the cheap Target fan you bought is going to conk out from days of constant use. - name the sweat stains on your clothes. - write down as many titles of original Star Trek episodes as you can remember. No cheating! - pedicures, anyone? - type a meaningless blog entry about what to do when it's too hot to think. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
