I applied for a second job at the Thriftway espresso bar. Now, there's nothing wrong with work; I do plenty of it at my regular job, which is teaching special education. I just wanted to hold out, to somehow show that this profession I chose and love could sustain me financially. Clearly, it cannot. The bike needs a sprocket and chain. There are things I'd like to take care of without having to entertain thoughts of selling my very durable Subaru, that I love dearly. Bite the bullet, girl. ------ Welcome to Generation Y's new game show, "Your Money or Your Dignity!" It comes with so many joys - learning new skills, becoming an adept budgeter, getting to a Zen place about wanting, having, acquiring and letting go of possessions or experiences... But it comes with some hassles, too - reduced free time, that little embroidered sweater, orthotics, being nice to people when you just would rather not. Bonus-round fun includes that little voice in your ear whispering: "Find calm in your humility. Work is good. This decision may make more things possible. Fund your leisure. Peace."
