The Cajun brought me two pair of Under Armour, the high-performance underpants of champions. Black. Large. Part one of my preparation for our three-day hike into the high country.

I've been preparing, too. I've made sure I have the ten essentials + 5, which include sunscreen, a brilliant addition. Mine's SPF 55, because with these Sami cheekbones, I'm quick to get the raccoon eyes.

The chunk I took out of my right pinkie toe is healing and I am now walking without favoring it. Nonetheless, I have packed moleskin. It really helps.

The Cajun has the tent and sleeping bag situation all ready; they are ultra light and it's just not worth me taking mine. Of course, I'll carry whatever is my share of the gear, whoever it may belong to.

I'm in charge of meals. There will be chocolate, liquor, and freezer bag meals. Of course, the Cajun will be bringing his JetBoil for nearly instant hot water.

It seems, as I consider all of this, that I will be bringing relatively little besides my clothes and ten essentials. And tequila, perhaps.
