what to say...

So we've come to the end of the week here at acme, and I feel a lot better about how we could help them and what we need to do to prepare to help them. There is a lot of energy in this place. It was funny that I had to tell guru that we needed to focus on the IT thing, so I could start dealing with the idea of a short term to japan. Short term can be anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 years. How important is it to go on short term? For me to join the team we would need to go. But we've already determined that I will probably not be joining the team. I don't know if it is necessary for guru's walk. job. thing. I think we will need to figure that out.

I did get to meet with 4 other christian graphic designers and artists. I liked all of them immensely and I'm thinking about supporting some of them based on the type of work they do. (generate materials for use in the US to mobilize folks to be sent abroad all over the world) But I don't think there is a place for me there and I will have to go find my own way out here. They had some very nice work, but to some extent their message is more important than their art. We also talked about ways that I could look for work and good places to start investigating. If we do come out here I'd like to chat with them all more. They all seemed like I had met them from before. I also got to pick their brains about org's like aiga.

There have been a number of cute phrases that have come up during this weekend that I want to pass on:

false economy
socio-eco
leaky visions
healthy conflict

My crazy animal story is that apparently they have wild, feral cats colonies up in these parts. There is apparently an organization that will spay and neuter your colony for free if you can catch them. You can then have a neutered (and spayed) colony of feral cats in your back yard. (Look but Don't Touch!)

I also heard that prairie dogs are "humanely" sucked out (.mov file) of their holes and relocated on a regular basis. We should try this on the groundhogs back home.

Anyway, more as it develops...
