Although my food supply is getting to the really boring status, I managed to find a box of Carrot Cake mix. Aha! Adapt a quickie brownie recipe and I had me some sweet tooth munchies.
Just as I was getting started on that project, OD's husband and my older granddaughter drove up. ODH had made brie soup (it is really delicious) and they'd brought me a thermos of it. I even managed to talk OGD into going under the house to retrieve the pooper-scooper and a broom. With the former I can once again take over the cat box cleaning, without breaking the 90 degree rule for mending hips. Outside it sounds like Baghdad on a bad day. Most of the firecracker sounds are coming from the area where some new people have moved in relatively recently (like in the past year.) New Year's Eve ought to be a doozie if they participate in that too, because that's the "traditional" time for fireworks. A bit of lagniappe--the quickie recipe. 1 box cake mix, 1/2 cup salad oil, 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons of water. Mix together, spread in a 9 x 13 pan (8 x 8 if you like them thick) and bake 40 minutes at 350. Use your imagination--add chips, nuts, raisins, whatever if you want. Now back to the brie soup.
