I've been on this Tues., Thurs., Fri. "schedule" for only a couple of weeks, but this week's change in routine has me temporally discombobulated again. I have to keep saying to myself "today is Saturday, today is Saturday." Well, next week will be "normal" again.

This morning I called my history friend in Mobile and I think we giggled and laughed our way through about a half hour conversation. We try to get together one day each summer in Gulfport--halfway between us--for several hours of catching up, exchanging ideas, whatever. We concluded that we should deduct it on our taxes as business travel--and that we should call our very extended lunch meeting the Gulf Coast Women's Conference. (Right--I'm sure the IRS would believe that.) She said she'd be glad to read over my proposal and critique it, and we talked more about that project. She also wanted to get caught up on the Tulane takeover of Newcomb, and since now I'm (so to speak) on the inside, I could give a little background.

This morning I also discovered the surface of about half of my dining room table. I'm gradually getting stuff organized and/or disposed of. I took half a dozen books to PJ's and left them on the shelf with Bookcrossings books. Their business seems to be picking up somewhat. They were closed for almost four months after Katrina. The store didn't have all that much damage, but the owners' homes did. Little by little the "regulars" are returning.

So, that was Saturday. I think I'll try to whack down some of the rye tomorrow--it's more than two feet high in places. And, of course, read, think, and write.
