Half of February is gone, as of midnight last night.

One work day left this week, and I was told we'd probably be closing down early--Carnival.

Monday and Tuesday next week the school is closed, but the kids (and adults) have to drag themselves back on Wednesday.

As I came into Slidell this evening I saw the travel trailers, trucks, flatbed trailers, and cars lining up along the side of the road to "reserve" spaces for the parade tomorrow night. (A good reason to cut out of work early and thus avoid some of the traffic.) People had taped off their own little "domains" for parade watching. By tomorrow morning the parade route will probably be solid with reserved spots.

With next Monday a federal holiday, we will be without mail from Saturday till Wednesday.

I finished up the single box I'd been working on and was given a doozy of an assignment. There are now ten or eleven boxes of archival material surrounding my carrel. A couple didn't get wet. Most of the others got wet, went to Texas, sat in freezers, then got gamma-radiated. They are no longer in any order whatsoever. The material is all about local politics and women's issues. I am anxious to really dig in. Again, my history training is a big asset in figuring out what is important and what isn't, as well as meaningful ways to sort out the stuff.

I'm looking forward to it. I was going to Google the person, but I forgot the name already. Guess I'll do that at work, if a computer is available.
