I'm learning more and more about Louisiana and New Orleans politics. The papers I'm going through now are from a PR consultant who was campaign manager for a state Senator, not to mention a U.S. Senator (Mary Landrieu.) I haven't gotten up to the latter yet.

Today I was going through the correspondence etc. with a man who wanted to build a medical learning facility alongside a luxury hotel. Not a school exactly. And this involved getting the state to match money and a whole lot of other stuff. Lots of politicking going on.

I think I'm down to "only" about ten boxes left.

Today was an absolutely gorgeous spring day. Tomorrow is supposed to be good also, but then Thursday it may rain.

In case anybody is wondering, I didn't watch the Oscars because the last time I went to the movies it was to see the third "Ring" one. And I have no interest in seeing all the outrageously expensive dresses that don't leave much to the imagination.

Instead, I read.

I finally finished off Nature Girl by Hiaasen. Today there were two Kathy Reichs books in the mail, including the first one. That book gets started this evening.

And I finished Plows, Plagues, and Petroleum on my lunch break. I highly recommend it--the author writes very coherently about global warming, without "taking sides." And, as I said before, it's highly readable without being condescending.

And when you have an IUD there's not a whole lot to say.
