Deja Dead is finished, logged in at Bookcrossings, and released at PJ's.

It was a doozy. I was up reading past midnight, but I couldn't quite finish it. When I got up this morning I went back to the book. And by the time I finished it was too late to go get my oil changed and car washed. Guess I'll do that Wednesday.

Instead, I headed out to the recycle place to leave off my newspapers, only to discover that it's closed on Mondays. Rats. Guess that will have to wait till Wednesday also.

I'd picked up my mail as I left the house and found a package from a friend who ended up in Cincinnati after Katrina washed away the lower level of their house. It had two books in it.

Actually, they were quite welcome, because they are fairly lightweight bodice-rippers and a good change of pace from forensic pathologists and/or really strange people. I'm now two or three chapters into the first book.

Weather is clear, but cool.

This weekend will mark the return of the sun shining into my left eyeball on the morning commute. And, of students waiting for school buses in the dawn grayness.

I don't recall what it was like when we were on War Time during the 1940s--"daylight savings time" year round--but then where I lived the schools were in walking distance and their hours didn't have to be coordinated with bus schedules.

I wonder if any studies have been done to determine what, any, energy is "saved." I guess maybe a comparison of a year ago on standard time and this year on the so-called energy-saving time might give an idea. Maybe I'll dig out last year's bills (if I can find them!)

Work tomorrow--can't stay up late reading tonight.
