I feel like I did some things that were way past needing doing today.
I took the three bags of newspapers to the recycle place. Going down the street that it's on--a dirt road in the "industrial area"--I spotted a big shiny tour bus in front of one of the factories. I have no idea what it was doing there, other than getting dusty from the unpaved roads. After lunch and a bit of reading I headed back home and filled two trash cans with front driveway weeds and "dead and down." Some of the "down" was the result of my trimming out some azalea dead wood. One containerful got dumped in the pool. The second can wait a bit. While I was seated at the front of the driveway pulling weeds a neighbor stopped to chat a bit. He said why not use the weed-whacker, and I pointed out that that was not a permanent solution. He thought a moment and agreed. (The lawn that I hand-weeded several months ago is still weed-free.) And then I asked him if he knew any teenagers interested in pulling out weeds--for $8 an hour. He thought a few more moments and asked for my phone number. Cross fingers--I may get some help here. (I sure miss the yard kid who helped so much post-Katrina. He's no longer in commuting distance.) At any rate, my immediate front yard is looking a tiny bit better. In addition to the weeds, I also moved a bunch of the stuff left behind when the parish took down the dead tree and then scooped out the ditches. I had a cat supervising about half the time. Sleep will no doubt come early this evening! Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
