I spent about an hour outside pulling out dewberry vines and other unwelcome stuff growing where I plan to put some azaleas. I've got a long way to go with the dewberries, when you count the side and front yards, but getting one area at a time cleared is the way to go. I've worked out a system where I'm mostly sitting while I do this, and paying attention to not leaning to the side. (I fell off the chair once doing that.) This afternoon I even had enough energy left to haul it out to the pool and dump it.

Maybe tomorrow I'll go hunt up some azaleas. I used to get my plants at K-Mart, but they closed their Slidell branch quite a while ago.

I had an e-mail from the archivist--someone is researching a family with some records that I've processed. Eventually, there will be a program to hunt through all the archival inventories to find names etc., but it's not there yet. (That little storm in 2005 set a lot of things back a ways.)

Was I ever glad I hadn't planned to go in to N.O. today--the morning traffic report on TV said that traffic heading into New Orleans from the east was basically at a standstill. There had been a fatal accident on the interstate, just after where I get on, and thus blocking two of the three routes in from the east. The third route is old US 90. Now picture trying to squish three lanes of interstate traffic onto the one-lane feeder roads. Of course, one could always head north and cross the Causeway to the western side of New Orleans. However, traffic on the interstate to that feeder road was also backed up several miles.

Maybe tomorrow I'll try for TWO barrels of weeds.
