I FINALLY got myself (and my car) to the car wash that also changes oil and learned that they also replace windshield wipers.

My car is now lovely and clean, with clean oil and windshield wipers that clean the windshield. Actually, only one was really bad, but it was the one on the passenger side so I was able to procrastinate on that.

I went there prepared for a long wait--last time I did this it took me almost two hours. (That's the Katrina effect--very short-handed on the labor.) I commented on the speed to the owner(?) and she said the only reason the whole thing got done in 40 minutes today was because with no school they had a bunch of kids working there.

This evening I had a call from the semi-itinerant carpenter who rebuilt my fence. He's back in town for a while and said he'd be happy to do any little things that might need doing--such as my screen door. For free.

I figure that because my late husband used to do all sorts of handyman work for neighbors needing it this is a return on that. I shall accept gracefully. And gratefully.

The stumpy cat came by today to see if there were any handouts--and perhaps to play or hunt with Lady BadCat. The stumpy wears a flea collar, so I know (s)he(?) isn't a stray.

Between the wait at the car wash, lunch at Arby's, and coffee at PJ's, I got a fair amount of reading done. However, I have a list of books to check out and, if they are cheap enough, buy.

Tomorrow I shall admire my shiny clean car and make all sorts of resolutions about washing it more frequently.
