A Quiet Day

Today started out cold and rainy. People attending "sunrise services" must have been miserable. I haven't had a newscast on to hear about the cold wet morning.

I decided that the groceries could wait--I did NOT feel like coping with the rain and cold.

By lunch it had cleared (and warmed up a bit) and I went over to YD's house. I forgot to bring the bag with GD's present, but I had books for her in the car that she liked. And she'll get the gift in a day or so. YD has had a rabbit for Easter since she was about 1. It went from stuffed toys to little ceramic ones. One year it was a necklace. This year it was a Playboy Bunny necklace that my husband had given to me more than 40 years ago. I guess it's probably a collector's item by now.

Forty years ago we were here in Slidell and a Playboy Club opened up in the French Quarter. We and another couple went in every once in a while for a good (and relatively inexpensive) dinner and then entertainment by a jazz-type band. When we returned from our eight years in Florida the club was gone.

I stopped for groceries and gasoline on the way home. Sam's Club was closed, and so was their gas station. Luckily, WalMart was open. So I'll get gas tomorrow in the course of my meanderings.

This morning I heard a cat meowing outside, but Lady was inside. I looked out and there were two of the occasional visitors there, having a mild discussion. It was one of the long-haired blacks and the stumpy. Lady seemed disinterested--besides, she nice and warm inside.

The regular visitor count is two long-haired black cats, one long-haired stumpy, and one large, very clever raccoon. At least the cats don't manage to get the bungee cord unhitched, or move the trash can around.
