Tidying up began with the dining room table, on which bills, to-be-fileds, etc. have been stacking up. I need to file for my annual IRS extension this week, and that does call for a modicum of guesswork as to income and taxes paid.

But I got the checkbook caught up with the automatic deposits and payments, which is progress. And I paid some bills that are not atuomatically deducted. I am now Up To Date, financially speaking, at least. And that will continue for another day, as the mail today had no bills to be paid with checks.

I plan on being home tomorrow, and since yucky rain is forecast, I'll get at the income tax thing and spend what energy I have left doing a bit of cleaning. (You've probably figured out that I reserve cleaning for spare time, when I can find nothing more interesting to do.)

I had an interesting e-mail from the archivist at the Women's Center asking if I wanted a Tulane library card. (I already have borrowing privileges at the Women's Library.) Hey, why not? So, I e-mailed her back, and then she said she'd need my SS for a Tulane ID. Okay--I'm wondering how they are finagling that. I shan't try to figure it out, but just accept the card. It will no doubt save me money in the long run, since I will be able to check out a book before deciding to buy it.

So, today passed uneventfully with home financial stuff, then reading a semi-geek book at PJ's--A New Species--Gender and Science in Science Fiction, by Robin Roberts (the woman I met last week.) It definitly helps to have read almost all the books she cites.

Notice I said "almost." Who cares what drivel is on TV when there are books to be read!
