Rained like the dickens this afternoon, and I read the weather radar just about perfectly and had no problems getting home. I had some heavy (wipers on fast) rain going over the High Rise (I-10 bridge over the Industrial Canal, which can--and does--accomodate sea-going vessels) but about a mile later I was past the really bad rain and by the time I got home there was no sign of it. Judging by the inverted lid on my trash can, it didn't rain at all here on the North Shore.

I cut out from work a bit early, especially since Tulane streets flood in a heavy fog. Also, I had gotten there about 8:45, to find someone waiting impatiently for the library to open. (It's scheduled to open at 9.) He said he desparately needed to look up a book--and were the computers on? I said I thought they were always on. Luckily, I had learned the passwords for the "public" computers, which I was happy to share with him. It was quite apparent that he was a PC person, because he couldn't figure out how to get onto the internet. The Mac has a rather weird (IMHO) icon for it. He finally got on the internet and found the call number for the book. Next he wanted to check it out. Well, I have not (yet) learned how to do that, so I turned on the copier and copied his ID and back of the book with the ISBN barcode. The real librarian arrived about a minute after he left. Tomorrow I SHALL learn how to check books in and out. We have no student workers at this point, and Bea has to be out of the library (on library business) fairly often.

And then I settled down to Paulette's camaign activities. I think I'm close to being able to put it all in chronological/topical order. I've got four or five boxes with all sorts of stuff about her three--wait, it was four--campaigns for state Senate. And her really major campaign for Mayor. Her final campaign was for a judgeship. It's so nice when it all begins to come together.

I think there was a visitor last night--it sounded like a critter checking out the garbage can (which was on its side.) I need to put some dry food out so Lady can snack--as well as her friends, both feline and not-feline.

The forecast for tomorrow is about the same as for today. Yuck.
