I had an appointment at 11 this morning so my day was somewhat broken up. I got most of the beginning of the month stuff caught up in the checkbook, and I found part of my dining room table.

Fabian and I had several discussions about appropriate nap sites. He's discovered that if he gets a running (I thought he had given up running) start he can get the door to the computer room open. At the moment he thinks the top of the printer is perfect--it's in a direct line with the relatively powerful fan. And it's near me when I'm at the computer. (It's tough being a goddess to a cat.) He tried out the card table behind the monitor, using the modem for a pillow, but abandoned that for the fan and the AC advantage. It's hard to look cute when you're a 22 lb. cat, but he manages.

I finished up Harvest last night--late. This afternoon I started Laura Joh Rowland's (no relation, altho she lives in New Orleans) Shinju. I read three or four of the books at the beginning of this series and found the background period rather helpful when I was teaching the unit on Japanese history, especially the Tokugawa period. The book, as well as its successor, was a Christmas gift; they are both autographed. At least my work in the library has let me know where I can buy proper storage materials for them--and several other autographed books I have. (And the ones I am looking forward to by another Rowland.)

Tomorrow will be another work day for me, and then there's the weekend and my yard helpers. I also want to start up the Jimmy again. A couple of months ago I jumped it from the Escape. But--I have a buyer for it. When I told the person that it had responded to a jump start he was quite anxious to get it. It's almost a giveaway but the insurance costs $50/month!

Now to figure out what I'll wear tomorrow.
