I ran out of acid-free file folders. I knew I was low on them, but the area where they were last seen is wrapped tightly with visqine (sp?) because of the roof leak. The secretary has ordered some, but they aren't in yet. I managed to get a few from the center director and using those and the few I had left I got two cartons of files into "final" status. I think I'll see if I can find any locally so I'll have something to do when I go in next week.

That also gave me an excuse to cut out a bit early, although today IS Friday, the librarian had left early, and her aide was planning to shut the place down at 4.

I finally discovered the official "title" of my boss. She is Curator of Books and Archives. I'm not sure when she is due back from a trip that includes Iceland.

Everybody associated with the Center got "what if?" sheets with instructions on securing stuff before a "weather event" and phone numbers etc. for contacting People Who Know What is Going On.

The area had so many problems with pets and Katrina that they will now allow people to get on "public" transportation with their pets. And those pets will get microchipped if they haven't been already. Not a few people had pets they entrusted to animal tenders end up being adopted out. Some were able to trace them down and get them back, but that was hard on everybody concerned.

My girls are chipped--they came out of a shelter. I should have asked the vet if he could chip Fabian, but I'm sure I can get that done at the shelter. Besides, they should be impressed by his size. (Add that to my list of things to do when I don't want to clean.)

And tomorrow the yard helpers arrive! Things are going nicely, with the deal for the Jimmy yesterday and the yardwork tomorrow.
