It was a productive day at work. Translation, I finished up (completely) another box. Only one more to go, except for the one that is waiting on archival photo holders.
And, I didn't get rained on until I was on the way home, and that doesn't count because I'm in the car then. As I headed in to work I could see a huge black cloud to my right, which I guessed was sort of west, since on sunny days the rising sun goes into my left eye. However, I never made contact with it. I am not complaining. The three-lane (in each direction) street I take after leaving the interstate is undergoing some post-K repairs and has had one lane closed for work for probably a couple of weeks. Today two lanes were closed. But the drivers were all patient and polite. Of course, this was on the IN to work . . . . It may be a different story on the way home from work. Shock of the year--and a bit of disappointment. The Yats and Who-Dats billboard has changed. I have no idea what it is touting--there is almost no contrast and the print is small. It is most assuredly NOT an eye-catcher. Driving home was interesting. When I left the Tulane campus it was bright and sunny. As I headed east on Claiborne I could see increasingly dark clouds. Just about the time some raindrops began to hit the car the traffic slowed down a bit. Reaason? Probably the huge, broken boat hull heading west on the interstate, with a 2-cop motorcycle escort. Once that was by the traffic continued to slow--because now we were getting into rain. It was close to torrentialling going over the high rise and through much of New Orleans east. Traffic speed was down to 50. (This is the stretch which has a 60 posted limit, and post-K the customary speed has been 70+.) But, by the time I was on the stretch of interstate leading home through what used to be the national swamp, there was no rain. And no sign of rain at home. And then, as I was almost home, I noticed a light on my dashboard shaped like a gas pump. I had NOT planned to cut it that close. Guess what tops my list for tomorrow.
