I Must be Living Right

When I got to the Tulane campus about 9:45 there was actually a parking spot very near the building where I work. I was NOT looking forward to a pair of roughly 1/3 mile walks from the closest off-campus spot that didn't have a two hour limit.

Three people now have said "get a handicapped tag" and I am going to do just that. There are a couple of spots near the building where I work that are almost always empty--they're reserved for handicapped.

Most of the other places I go have reasonably close parking. I have no problem at Xavier because I get there so early I can grab a prime spot.

But those hikes in the heat last Friday really got to me.

I don't suppose I can count on "righteous living" to get me a campus parking spot near where I work every day--at about 10 AM. But today I was sure living right!

I'm at the stage in the files I'm processing where I'm beginning to see patterns. And I've gone through so many files I feel as if I know the person and what she has done in her life.

Early this morning I turned on the patio light and looked out. There was the raccoon looking intently at me. S?he has beautiful markings and does not act too skittish. The raccoon also doesn't bother the cat at all. (And the cat doesn't bother the raccoon.)

I finally got a copy of the text we're using at work. Tomorrow I'll be going through it and coordinating it with my lectures--or the other way around. I also made another phone call to the computer people, asking how I get onto Banner Web (a fantastic program that is arranged by class section so I can see stuff about my students, such as where they are from and their majors.) (Also if they are on probation or anything, but most of my students are freshmen.)

It's interesting that I'm stilll in the university computer system. And very handy. I figure my paycheck will go automatically into my bank account without me doing a thing.

When I was getting things back in order in my office I discovered that the little clock/radio/CD player that had been sitting on my desk wasn't there. I noticed that the other day, but figured it had been put into the box it came from.

No--evidently people doing the cleanup had other ideas. At least that's not very expensive. Two university-owned laptop computers went walking from the department. When I picked up a prescription at Walgreen's this afternoon I found a clock replacement. It's got AM/FM, a clock, and an alarm. And it was on sale for about $4. It will work just fine.

The wall calendar I'd had was still in place. I like having a calendar, so I just re-titled the days of the week. Monday dates in 2005 are now Wednesday dates in 2007.

All in all, today was a pretty good day.
