About lunchtime it began to rain, and it continued for most of the afternoon. As a result, the air is lovely and cool, and it should be good sleeping tonight.

I did get some yard work done this morning, dumping weedings into the pool and picking up the dog food bag that the raccoon had dragged out of the ice chest. He(?) had, of course, polished off every scrap of cheap dog food.

This afternoon was spent at PJ's, actually doing Work! I reviewed the new textbook being used. My lecture set has been modified through three textbook authors, so I didn't need to do any particular changing. I did note areas where I think this text is deficient, and I'll go into more details about that material in my lectures.

The Blood Center called me today, just about begging for my blood. I've always been a regular donor, and have been meaning to see if I was still elgible, what with age, Africa visit, etc. And I was pleased to discover that my blood will be very welcome. I'm A neg. and that matches about 6% of the population. I'll figure my Saturday around a visit to the Vampire Club.

There were some Road Home people working out of PJ's, and I made a point of being friendly. The "ground level" workers (at least the majority of them) aren't responsible for the foul-ups at the upper levels. One of the workers was from Pass Christian MS, but had moved to Atlanta after Camille. Her mother had stayed in Mississippi, until her home was washed away by Katrina. She gave up and moved to Atlanta. She (the worker) is fully aware of what it's like on "ground level."

I think the rain has ended, at least for a while. It was needed.
