It has long been agreed, in this family, that I have a black thumb--I try to grow things, and they die. I even killed a fake tree--when the leaves fall off, you know it's dead.

Today I really have a black thumb. I stubbed it, like a toe. It is swelling up, with a bruise at the first joint. It still appears to function and move in straight lines, so it's no doubt just a "stubbed thumb." When I am not using that hand, I am soaking it in very cold water.

Never a dull moment around here.

HOWEVER, I finally caught up on the bookkeeping, bill-paying, etc. Most of my regular bills are automatically deducted from my checking account, or I pay them online. Some, however, get to be done "by hand." Today I finally got around to filling out the form so that a couple of checks from a fund will get automatically deposited. It's a pain in the neck taking them to the bank each month. I use the driveup because that I way I don't have to stand in line--just burn dinosaurs. And I do so little running around town, especially now that I've got two jobs, that I usually end up using the branch of the bank directly on my way home. It is also on the way home for a LOT of other people. I will not miss waiting in line.

I managed to remember how to reset my car clock after the new battery was installed. And I've punched in one radio station so far.

It was NOT as hot as recently today--a shower around noon cooled things off a bit, even though it raised the humidity.

Tomorrow I'll be home again, waiting for word on the parking tag application. I'll probably call down there in the morning and check--that way if it got forgotten about it will get remembered.

And this evening I shall continue to soak my black thumb.
