Feeling Mildly Virtuous

I got some yard work done today. Of course, a nighttime temperature that made me reach for the afghan--and very low daytime humidity--made it much less unattractive than it has been for the past few months. I was not clad in soggy clothes five minutes after starting--in fact, I did almost no sweating.

Lady "helped" me by chasing the weeds as I pulled them up. She is very good at acting cute. She also kept looking at the empty ice chest so that I didn't forget to put the dog biscuits in it for the raccoons etc. that show up after dark.

Other than it, it was a very dull day. The Saints played abyssmally. I do hope that they will do better at next week's home opener.

I finished Bones to Ashes this afternoon, but I haven't settled on the next mind candy. I started reading H. G. Welles The Food of the Gods, but that is somewhat more serious and borderline geek reading. Decisions, decisions--but TV is so generally lousy it's easy to "multitask" with mind candy.

My students have a vocab quiz tomorrow and I just finished printing it out. There is a test scheduled for Wednesday. I'll probably use a somewhat revised version of an old one. It's been two years since I taught, and "files" and "word" on me are likely rather scarce.

So, a reasonably productive day which has left me feeling mildly virtuous.
