They are now 0 - 3 for the season, and they played really lousy last night. YD and family are getting the tickets to the next home game. The season is a sell-out, so I know I can watch it at home. And our game-friends to our right should see how much YGD has grown.

We left before the end--it was pretty obvious who was going to win, and we both had work ahead of us today.

Today I went to what seems to be an annual (female) faculty lunch at the Center. Fantastic food - Tulane's catering department is really good. And there was a fairly large group from both the Uptown Campus and from downtown (the Med School.) The librarian pushed me into going, even though I was in a sort of unclassified category. We got all the news of the Institute (successor to Newcomb College Center for Research on Women) and then introduced ourselves.

When it was my turn I said I was (recently re-hired)adjunct faculty at Xavier, but I'd done graduate work at Tulane--and never try to prepare for prelims with a newly retired husband. Then I went on to say how I'd found a volunteer job there post-Katrina. And that had been a year and a half ago. That statement even got a bit of applause. Definitely a good feeling. (Have I mentioned how much I like being in a woman-centered community?)

This afternoon we started having intermittent cloudbursts. I checked the weather radar and decided that it would no doubt be in my best interests to leave a bit early. On the other hand, I had gotten there just after 8 AM--and the library opens at 9. (But I have keys to the building and the library.

Tomorrow is a Xavier day, and I need to grade maps they turned in Monday this evening. Shouldn't be any problem.

All in all, it was an interesting day and I got to talk to all sorts of people about all sorts of subjects.
