I should be grading paperlets. I spent a while this afternoon doing just that, but so far it's been rough going.

Three students apparently did not quite "get" the concept of paperlet--meaning a very short paper. I specified typed, double-spaced, but there are three pieces of lined notebook paper with something quick scrawled on them.

I have only 19 or 20 paperlets. There are 30 students in the class.

Far too many apparently have little practice in answering the question asked.

Unfortunately there are a few who simply copy phrases from the text reading.

Luckily, Xavier has a writing center where many can get help. If they go there.

The good part is that by next semester most of the students will have gotten over bad habits. I am grading VERY generously. This time.

I do not wish to discuss today's football action--or inaction. I watched the debacle at home--a step-grand and her boyfriend used the tickets.
